Shan Masood Life Journey

Shan Masood, a reliable and proficient left-hand opener, was selected for the international team after demonstrating his talent in the youth level of cricket. Masood was Pakistan’s go-to choice during the Test series against South Africa in the UAE since they were unable to put up a reliable opening partnership.

Shan Masood Career Journey

Masood grabbed the attention of Pakistan’s talent scouts at a young age, and in 2002, when he was just 13 years old, he was chosen for the U-15 Asia Cup after wowing Aaqib Javed. Masood scored 54 for Karachi in his first-class debut match in 2007 and combined with Asad Shafiq for 154 runs for the first wicket. Later, he continued to perform well in England, particularly in 2009 for Stamford School, where he set a school record with 1237 runs at an average of 103. For Durham University, he also participated in three first-class matches, competing against players like Liam Plunkett, Graham Onions, and Ajmal Shehzad.

Masood had a fantastic home season in Pakistan in 2012–13, amassing 543 runs at an average of 54.30. A call-up to open the batting in the Test series against South Africa served as the reward. Alastair Cook is Masood’s idol, which says something about the type of batsman he aspires to be.
